Clinical and Translational Research Support Core Goals

The goal of the Clinical and Translational Research Support Core is two fold:

  1. To ensure that funded research projects have sufficient numbers of well-characterized participants to fulfill the projects' primary aims and

  2. To provide access and information resources that will support investigators of all types who have clinical and/or translational research interest

Services Offered by the Core

The Clinical and Translational Research Support Core provides four principal services:

Recruitment of participants and preparation of participants for projects on an as-needed basis;

Participant characterization (including testing of basic skills, clinical assessments, and health screenings);

Coordination of interactions with the UMMS IRB which includes advising investigators on approaches to present clear, complete, unambiguous proposals that do not require numerous submissions to achieve IRB approval; and

Tracking of all participants recruited into different projects, and developing a database of specialized populations.
